[Maxima] matchdeclare??

   One of the wonderful commands in Maxima is 'example', which gives sample
usage of its argument.  Hence 'example(matchdeclare);' will help you.

I am in reference to the above function. After reading the official
documentation I am still not able to understand what matchdeclare does.
Can anyone please give me a very basic example/use case please?
