Looks to me like a bug in GCL.
You could try raising the issue on the GCL development list.
Or you could try compiling with a stable version.
I don't know what is the most recent stable version;
maybe it's 2.6.7 or 2.6.8, you'll have to ask someone else.

Or you could use a different Lisp implementation.
Try SBCL for instance.
