This is where I will post homework assignments and other announcements. For general information, see the first-day handout.

Office hours Tuesday Mar 20 changed to MOnday Mar 19, 2pm-3pm.

Note: Homework assignments are due at the beginning of your discussion section.

HW 1 (due Wed Jan 25)
11.1: 6, 8, 14, 22, 24, 28, 29, 34, 36, 54, 55, 57, 62, 68, 81
7.8: 10, 8, 14, 18, 26, 30, 31, 32, 40, 44, 46 (hint: a clean way is to change variables), 52, 54 (hint: at one point using continuity greatly simplifies things), 58 (scary but clean).
(Originally, #81 was posted. But there is no 81. Sorry.)

HW 2 (due Wed Feb 1)
11.2: 16, 22, 24, 28, 44, 58, 62, 90 (hint: first find the ratio of each circle's radius to the previous one using geometry.)
11.3: 2, 10, 22, 28, 32, 38, 40, 46
11.4: 4, 14, 16, 28, 30, 32, 38, 46
11.5: 6, 14, 18, 20, 24, 26, 28, 30, 34

HW 3 (due Wed Feb 8)
11.6:1, 6, 8, 16, 20, 22, 27, 32, 35, 36
11.7:12, 14, 16, 20, 22, 37
11.8:4, 8, 14, 16, 24, 28, 30
11.9:4, 10, 12, 16, 26, 28, 35, 39
(on 35 in 11.9, there is nothing magical about the fact that the whole left side is divisible by x. It's an artifact coming from the general form of the differential equation satisfied by the more general Bessel function Jn.)

HW 4 (due Wed Feb 15)
11.10: 8, 10, 20, 27, 28, 32, 48, 50, 58, 60, 62, 66
11.11: 32, 34, 36
10.1: 1, 3, 5, 9, 24, 33, 34, 42
10.2: 8, 12, 27, 29, 30, 42, 48, 54, 74

HW 5 (due Mon Feb 27)
10.3: 2, 4, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 22, 24, 28, 30, 34, 48, 54, 66
10.4: 6, 18, 24, 44, 46, 50

EXAM 1 grading scale: Compare your BLACKBOARD score with the scale to find your letter grade. Don't use it for the score on your paper because that will make you think you got a lower score than you did. Because of an later-seen-to-be-unfair problem that I dropped, the scores on your papers are out of 86 not 100.
A 71+
B 50+
C 36+
D 27+
Pluses and minus will be assigned to your final course grade at the end of the course. This grade will depend on your numerical exam scores, so for example a high B really is almost an A and will be counted as such.

HW 6 (due monday 5 march)
12.1: 2, 4, 8, 12, 14, 20, 30, 34, 37, 38
12.2: 4, 8, 16, 22, 24, 30, 36, 44
12.3: 1, 4, 6, 10, 12, 16, 24, 30, 40, 44, 46, 54, 57
12.4: 2, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 30, 34, 38, 44
(note: the point of #18 is that one of the usual rules of algebra doesn't hold for cross products. So don't try to use the associative law for it because it isn't true.)

HW 7 (due wed 7 march)
12.5: 8, 10, 14, 16, 20, 23, 25, 28, 30, 42, 46, 54, 58, 61, 67, 68, 76, 77,80
12.6:4, 21-28, 30, 33, 36

HW 8 (due wed 21 march)
13.1: 4, 6, 11, 12, 14, 18, 21-26, 30, 48
13.2: 4, 10, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 36, 40, 42, 46, 50, 54
14.1: 2, 4, 9, 14, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 36, 38, 42, 44, 46, 59-64

HW 9 (due wed 28 march)
14.3: 1, 5-8, 10, 16, 18, 26, 34, 48, 50, 54, 60, 62, 71, 74, 78, 90
14.4: 2, 6, 17, 18, 19, 26, 27, 33, 36, 38, 42

HW 10 (due wed 4 april)
14.6: 4, 8, 12, 17, 20, 22, 24, 30, 33, 38, 42, 45, 56, 57, 59, 61, 65 (note: on 38, sketch the whole vector field not just the gradient at the point named in the problem.)
14.7: 2, 4, 6, 10, 12, 15, 18, 19, 31, 34, 44, 47, 53 (note: on 18, expect infinitely many solutions)

HW 11 (due wed 11 april)
14.8: 1, 6, 9, 20, 21, 31, 34, 41

EXAM 2 on thu 12 april will cover everything after the sequences/series chapter, up through 14.6. But we didn't cover 14.2, and will do 14.5 while we are doing ch. 15.
A: 76+
B: 63+
C: 43+
D: 41+

HW 12 (due mon 23 april)
15.2: 2, 4, 6, 12, 15, 19, 23, 25, 28, 30, 35
15.3: 2, 5, 7, 15-21, 23, 25, 50, 51, 55, 56, 60

HW 13 (due wed 25 april)
15.4: 1-8, 15, 19, 23, 25, 28a
15.9: 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 12, 14. (On 12 and 14, also set up the integral of a general function f over that region.)
14.5(yes from chapter 14): 1, 6, 21, 27, 28, 39

HW 14 (due wed 2 may)
I am surprised that people charged ahead on 15.9 last week without even asking. Sorry for the typo! But I still want you to work those problems. That makes this hw into a big one. Again, sorry!
15.10: 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 12, 14. (On 12 and 14, also set up the integral of a general function f over that region.)
15.5: 4, 11, 13
15.6: 5, 7, 9
15.7: 4, 9, 11, 12, 13, 18, 27, 33, 53
