Mar. 21 INF.DIMEN.ALGEBRAS & THEIR DEFORMATIONS [E.Frenkel, N.Reshetikhin] Tamas Hausel, UCB Mirror symmetry, Langlands duality, and Hitchin systems 3102 Etcheverry, 3:10-4:00pm In this talk I will touch on some duality theories appearing recently in physics (such as mirror symmetry, T-duality and S-duality) and also in number theory and representation theory (Langlands duality, Geometric Langlands Correspondence). Then I will explain a project with M.Thaddeus, in which we try to combine the above dualities and come up with a mathemat- ical duality, some kind of mirror symmetry, between Hitchin systems for Langlands dual groups. I will explain our calculations which confirms this duality by proving the so-called homological mirror test for the 2 Hitchin systems in some special cases. I will define and comment on some neccessary ingredients to the story: namely stringy E-polynomials, and in the orbifold case, their twisting with discrete torsion.
