Resume
I graduated from Chapel Hill (N.C.) High School in June 1995 and enrolled at NC State the following August.  After my freshman year, I left school for two years to do missionary work for the Mormon Church

As a missionary, I lived in various cities -- generally for several months at a time -- in the Anaheim, California area.  Here are some pictures of me as a missionary.

I returned to NC State for the Fall 1998 semester.  I graduated in May 2001 with a B.S. in Mathematics, a B.S. in Mathematics Education (both Summa Cum Laude), and a minor in Statistics.

I  love to watch college basketball and I attended most of the home games.  I camped out for front row tickets too many times to count.  I also attended most of the home football games.  In 1998 I saw the goalposts come down in consecutive home games as the football team beat #2 Florida State and #11 Syracuse (never mind that they lost at Baylor in between).  You can follow the Wolfpack at gopack.com

I got married in October 1999.  Tina and I were introduced at church in October 1998, started dating in January 1999, were engaged in early June, and made it official on the 8th of October. Selected wedding pictures are available online.  Tina teaches preschool at the University Presbyterian Church.  Visit her website.

I play the violin and the viola.  I took private violin lessons beginning in elementary school and going  through high school.  I played in the Piedmont Youth Orchestra my junior and senior years in high school.  My junior year, we played a concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.  While at NC State, I was a member of the Raleigh Chamber Orchestra -- an orchestra made up of both NC State students and members of the city of Raleigh.

I am a first year graduate student at The University of Texas at Austin. I am taking the prelim courses in Algebra and Topology and am also doing some research with Felipe Voloch.

I volunteer as a Math Doctor for the online service Ask Dr. Math.  People send in their math questions and I help to answer them.

I like to read.  I have read most of the books by John Grisham and Michael Crichton.  My favorites are A Time To Kill and The Great Train Robbery, respectively.  I also liked Jurassic Park.  Recently, I have been reading works by Charles Dickens.  I read A Tale of Two Cities last summer and I'm reading Great Expectations right now.
